Enfield Selectboard votes Dog Park is...

It’s a GO!! The Enfield Selectboard voted tonight to authorize the establishment of a dog park on the 2-acre portion of the idle field adjacent to the Shaker Recreation Park on Route 4A on an annual lease.

We wanted all of you, who have supported this effort to hear the news directly from us. We had a mini celebration right after the Selectboard meeting – okay, we celebrated for about 5 minutes, then got to work planning our next steps. There is much to do, and we’re going to need your help! Chief among our tasks is to raise the $50,000 it will take to get the park up and running.

Since things are going to start moving faster and we need to keep organized, we’ve formed a few committees:

• Events Committee
• Fundraising Committee
• Membership & Communications
• Park Design and Construction
• Volunteers & Park Maintenance (future committee once we have a Park)

Please let us know if you’d like to join any of these, or if you have suggestions for other committees.

We also are planning one or two community meetings to present our plans and needs to you and the community in general, and to give folks the opportunity to become official, dues-paying members ($20/year) of the group. We’ll keep you posted on those as details are finalized. In the meantime, do think about how you might be willing to help – even if it’s just by spreading the word – and let us know.
